Sabancı University, a respected institution in Turkey, is known worldwide for its groundbreaking research and education initiatives that contribute significantly to the advancement of science and society. Founded in 1996 with a research conference organized by the Sabancı Foundation in Istanbul, the university has since enjoyed a prestigious reputation as one of the best private universities in Istanbul and Turkey.
The university offers a variety of programs in engineering, architecture, business, economics, law, humanities and social sciences for both undergraduate and graduate students. Sabancı University aims to provide its students with an education that meets the requirements of the modern age, and has 10 faculties and 5 research centers to support this mission.
Sabancı University Ranking
Sabancı University was ranked between 461-470 in the QS World University Rankings, which is considered one of the most prestigious university rankings in the world . This ranking evaluates 1,000 universities from around the world based on six indicators across four dimensions:
- Research
- Education quality
- Employment opportunities
- Internationality
While four of the indicators are based on concrete data such as the student-faculty ratio and the number of citations per faculty member, the other two are based on surveys that measure the perception of reputation among academics and staff on a global scale. 50 percent of the evaluation consists of concrete data indicators and 50 percent consists of reputation perception research.
Sabancı University Admission Requirements
Sabancı University is one of the most difficult universities in Turkey to get into when it comes to getting accepted. The admission process depends on the student’s academic qualifications, such as high school grades and scores from national entrance exams.
International applicants must meet the same admission requirements as everyone else, but they must also demonstrate proficiency in English.
Sabancı University International Undergraduate Student Admission Requirements
- Application Process and Documents:
- Online application must be made. The required documents must be uploaded to the system during the application.
- Application fee: 30 USD, must be paid by Visa or Mastercard. The application fee is non-refundable and must be paid for the application to be considered valid.
- Applications must be made between the specified application dates (Start: January 13, 2023, End: August 24, 2023, ends at 16:00 Turkey time).
- Who Can Apply:
- Foreign national candidates and those who have renounced Turkish citizenship/Blue Card holders.
- TRNC citizens and those who have renounced Turkish citizenship/Blue Card holders.
- Those who will enroll in secondary education institutions in Turkey starting from the academic year.
- Students who have graduated from an institution equivalent to a Turkish high school or are in their final year of high school.
- Accepted Exams/Diplomas:
- It must be submitted with a valid score from one of the exams/diplomas accepted by the university.
- Required documents:
- High school diploma and transcript (transcript).
- Foreign language proficiency certificate and academic reference letter, if available.
- For Turkish national students who graduated from a high school outside TRNC and Turkey, documents proving that they received formal education.
- Scholarship Opportunities and Evaluation:
- Scholarship evaluation is based on the academic and extracurricular activities of the candidates.
- Equivalence Certificate:
- For international students to study in Turkey, an equivalence certificate is required.
Sabancı University Tuition Fees
Fees for 2023 are as follows:

The fall semester fee is charged, and the spring semester fee is charged only if this semester is paid. However, if the entire annual tuition fee is paid during university registration, the fall semester fee will also include the spring semester fee.
For foreign students, the tuition fee is 19,500 USD for all undergraduate programs.

The groundbreaking ceremony of the Sabancı University campus, whose foundations were laid on July 31, 1997, started the first academic year of the university on October 20, 1999. Sabancı University students showed our students around the campus to inform them about the education system. This tour helped them better understand the interdisciplinary research and international competence that Sabancı University strives to achieve.
Sabancı University Scholarship
Sabancı University offers various scholarship opportunities to international students. The university provides fully-funded and partially-funded scholarships for bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral degrees. All international students can apply for scholarships that can cover the full tuition fee and other expenses.
