Modanisa Turkey: Sizes, Returns, Shipping and Customs

Modanisa’s Turkish storefront prints three size tables, not one. It hands an order to the carrier within 24 hours and takes back an unused item within 14 days of receipt. For parcels sent abroad, the United States no longer lets small parcels in duty-free, and the EU now charges a flat fee instead of its old exemption.

The shop in plain facts

Modanisa’s about page (Hakkımızda) says the site opened on Mother’s Day 2011, was born in Istanbul, has customers in 140 countries and publishes in six languages: Turkish, Arabic, English, French, German and Bahasa. Its delivery help page (Teslimat ve Kargo) says it ships to more than 140 countries and lists them in four groups: Africa and the Middle East, the Americas, Asia and the Pacific, and Europe.

One line on every help page of the Turkish storefront matters for what follows: the policies and procedures shown apply to customers in Türkiye. The sections on ordering, payment, delivery and returns describe those pages, checked 21.10.2026. The site’s country menu is where you choose your own delivery country.

The size chart three tables, not one

Modanisa prints its size guide on each product page, under Beden Tablosu: a table in centimetres, the same table in inches, an international table and a how-to-measure picture. The tables are not the same for every garment. On the pages checked, dresses and sets share one table, tunics, tops and outerwear share another, and trousers and skirts have a third that lists the waist only.

• Dresses and sets – Size 32 lists bust 78, waist 60 and hip 83.5 cm; size 60 lists 157, 140.5 and 165.5. Printed on the pages checked for Tesettür Elbise (dresses), Tesettür Abiye Elbise (evening dresses), Takım (sets), Namaz Elbisesi (prayer dresses), Büyük Beden Elbise (plus-size dresses).
• Tunics, tops and outerwear – Size 32 lists bust 79, waist 60 and hip 84 cm; size 60 lists 160, 141 and 165. Printed on the pages checked for Tunik (tunics), Bluz / Gömlek (blouses and shirts), Ceket (jackets), Yelek (vests), Kap / Pardesü (capes and overcoats), Mont (coats), Trençkot (trench coats), Ferace (long loose coats), Büyük Beden Tunik (plus-size tunics).
• Trousers and skirts – Waist only: size 32 lists 61 cm and size 60 lists 112. Printed on the pages checked for Pantolon (trousers), Etek (skirts).
• No table – The pages checked for Triko Takım (knit sets), Kadın Tişört (women’s T-shirts), Sweatshirt (sweatshirts), Kimono (kimonos), Eşofman Altı (tracksuit bottoms), Tesettür Mayo (modest swimwear) print no size table at all.

The table belongs to the product page, not to the shelf it is listed on. Among the pages checked, a tunic listed with the T-shirts printed the tunic table, a tracksuit set listed with the tracksuit bottoms printed the set table, and a knitted dress listed with the dresses printed none; read the table on the page you are buying from.

The international table is the same on every page checked. It pairs a letter size with an EU, a US and a UK/AU number: XXS is EU 32, US 0 and UK/AU 4; L is EU 40, US 8 and UK/AU 12; 10XL is EU 60, US 28 and UK/AU 32. The EU column runs 32 to 60, the same numbers as the size column of the centimetre tables, so the dress form pairs a size with the international row that has the same EU number.

The how-to-measure picture numbers four points: 1 bust (Göğüs), 2 waist (Bel), 3 hip (Basen) and 4 length (Boy), and the line under it reads “from the shoulder to the ankle”. The inch tables are separate printed tables, whole and half inches, not a conversion of the centimetre figures, so the dress form reads the inch table when you switch to inches.

Ordering and paying how the Turkish storefront works

A product page shows an estimated delivery window, a product code, a fabric line (Kumaş bilgisi) and an editor’s note; most also carry a free-return tag and a Teslimat & İade block that repeats the 14-day line. The Sipariş and Ödeme Seçenekleri help pages cover the rest.

• Basket – Pick a size on the product page, add it to the basket, enter a discount code if you have one, then follow the steps to the address and the payment. The website has a guest checkout; the mobile app asks you to sign up.
• Size help – The help pages point to the Beden Tablosu on the product page for choosing a size.
• Out of stock – Choose the size and tap Gelince Haber Ver, “tell me when it is back”: Modanisa sends an SMS or an e-mail when stock is updated. A product that sells out is taken out of the basket automatically.
• Ways to pay – Credit card, debit card or cash on delivery. Bank transfer is not accepted, and card points cannot be used.
• Card safety – The pages say card details travel over an encrypted connection. After you enter a new card, your bank texts a code to the phone number it holds for you (this step is called 3D Secure). Type it on the next page within the time shown; without it the order is not confirmed.
• Instalments – Credit-card instalments follow the minimum amounts of the banks Modanisa works with. By law, cosmetics cannot be bought in instalments.
• Cash on delivery – Offered up to a basket limit and with a fixed service fee. The order is confirmed with an SMS code, and whether you pay the courier in cash or by card depends on the carrier.
• Changes – Items cannot be added or taken out once the order is placed. An order can be cancelled while its status reads awaiting approval or preparing, and is refunded in full, shipping included. A new delivery address goes through customer service by WhatsApp or phone.

Shipping and customs whose rules apply

The delivery help page says orders are handed to the carrier within 24 hours; an order with an item that has to be sourced can take longer, and the estimate shows under My orders. The shipping fee depends on the delivery address and the number of items, and each order is its own shipment, so two orders placed at different times may not arrive together.

• Tracking – Once the carrier has the order, Modanisa sends a shipment code by e-mail and SMS, and the order page has a tracking button.
• At the door – Check the parcel for tears, crushing or damp before you take it. If it is damaged and items are missing, get a damage report from the carrier within 7 days and tell the carrier’s staff.
• Not at home – The parcel goes to the nearest carrier branch with a note. Collect it within about 3 days, which can vary by carrier, or it can go back to Modanisa.

Customs rules belong to the country where the parcel arrives, not to Modanisa. Three authorities publish theirs:

• United States – U.S. Customs and Border Protection says the old duty-free limit for small parcels, $800 (the “de minimis” exemption), has not applied since at least 29 August 2025. Two CBP rules of 24 June 2026 keep it suspended with no end date: one for parcels sent by post and one for every other way of sending. A law ends the old limit for good on 1 July 2027.
• European Union – The European Commission says that from 1 July 2026 until 1 July 2028 the EU charges a flat customs duty of €3 on each kind of item in a parcel worth up to €150; the old exemption ended on 30 June 2026. It counts kinds of item (their customs category), not pieces: five T-shirts cost €3, a T-shirt and a watch €6. Whoever files the customs form, the seller or the importer pays it; only in rare cases the buyer.
• United Kingdom – GOV.UK says most goods worth £135 or less in total are not charged customs duty. VAT (the sales tax) is charged on all goods except gifts worth £39 or less; for goods you bought yourself that are worth £135 or less, the seller will have included it in the price you paid. Above £135 you pay VAT to the delivery company before delivery or on collection. On 23 June 2026 HM Revenue & Customs, the UK tax authority, announced it will end the £135 duty-free limit in October 2028.

Returns the swing tag

The returns help page says that for any reason you can send an order back within 14 days of receiving it, if the items are in their original packaging, unused and with the tags attached. You start in the Kolay İade Merkezi, the easy return centre, which gives you a return code that lasts 7 days; the code goes with the parcel, and the pages say there is no charge.

• Exchange – There is no exchange service for delivered items: return the item through the return centre and place a new order.
• The refund – It goes back through the payment channel you used and can take 3 to 14 days to show, depending on your bank, and up to 28 days on debit cards. Instalment payments are refunded by the bank in instalments. A cash-on-delivery refund goes to the bank account (IBAN) you enter in the return centre; the cash-on-delivery fee is not refunded.
• Part returns – If you do not send back everything in an order, the shipping fee is not refunded. If free shipping depended on the basket total, the fee can be taken off the refund.
• No invoice – You can still return: put your name, phone number, order number and the reason on a sheet of paper inside the parcel.
• Extra items – If the parcel holds something that was not part of the return or that Modanisa does not sell, the shop contacts you; items not collected within 15 days are destroyed, with a record.

The Ministry of Trade’s guide to buying online or by phone gives the same 14 days for an order placed online or by phone and lists goods that cannot be returned once the protective packaging is opened, for health and hygiene reasons; underwear and earrings are its examples. For a faulty product the ministry’s guide on defective goods gives two years.

Before you order what you can check yourself

This is a checklist, not a verdict: each line is something you can look up or watch for yourself.

• The company – Modanisa’s İletişim page prints the company behind the site, Modanisa Elektronik Mağazacılık ve Tic. A.Ş., a head office in Üsküdar, Istanbul, a Mersis number (the company’s number in Türkiye’s trade register) and a registered e-mail address (KEP). It also lists an Amsterdam address for MDN Europe B.V. and says returns are not accepted there: use the return centre.
• The payment step – On a card payment, look for the 3D Secure step: a code from your bank that you type before the order is confirmed.
• Your records – The shop sends a shipment code by e-mail and SMS, and each order page keeps its status and, for a return, the amount to be refunded.
• The 14 days – The ministry’s guide to buying online or by phone gives 14 days to cancel and return, and lists the exceptions; read it before you buy something you mean to try on. It is the rule in Türkiye: look up the rule of the country where you live.
• Who to call – In Türkiye, Alo 175 is the Ministry of Trade’s consumer helpline, and a dispute goes to the consumer arbitration committee (Tüketici Hakem Heyeti).
