Yunus Emre Institute is the most important Turkish cultural center that contributes to teaching the Turkish language, in addition to providing many programs to promote Turkish culture around the world.

The Yunus Emre Institute is spread in 58 countries around the world, and it contributes to introducing the peoples of the world to Turkey. The Turkish Cultural Center also holds many distinctive activities related to the culture and art of Turkey.

What is the Yunus Emre Institute

Yunus Emre Institute is an institute affiliated with the Yunus Emre Waqf which is considered a public institution. It was established on 05.05.2007 under Law No. 5653 to promote Turkey and the Turkish language, its history, culture and art, and to make this information and related documents available for use in the world, and to provide services abroad to people who wish to obtain Turkish language education.

Yunus Emre institute also aims to improve friendship between Turkey and other countries by increasing cultural exchange.

Work began in the Turkish Cultural Center in 2009, and the institute owns more than 58 cultural centers in many countries aroumd the world.

Naming the Yunus Emre Institute

The institute is named after the famous Turkish poet Yunus Emre, who was a Sufi from Anatolia and lived in the 13th and 14th centuries.

The most important thing that distinguishes Yunus Emre is that it is a symbol of human values, human love and social peace, and therefore, the institute aims to promote the culture and art of Turkey to the world, and work for a more peaceful world, where one understands the other in the language of civilization, which is considered the most efficient and polite in addition to its uniqueness.

Yunus Emre Summer School

Within the scope of the Turkish Summer School program, the Yunus Emre Institute invites hundreds of students from dozens of countries every year to learn the Turkish language in Turkey and get to know Turkey better.

The Turkish Summer School program is implemented with the participation of visiting students who are learning the Turkish language in Yunus Emre centers around the world and in archeology departments in many countries of the world.

The Turkish language is only used as a language of communication during the summer school, where students get the opportunity to learn the Turkish language in addition to the region’s culture by visiting distinguished historical and tourist sites in Turkish cities and states.

Yunus Emre Summer School hosts students of different cultures in modern Turkish universities in more than twenty cities in Turkey.

Students who attend an intensive Turkish course for more than one month, go on expeditions in the surrounding areas, in addition to meeting people who perform traditional crafts and students briefly try Turkish handicrafts.

At the end of the Turkish Summer School , hundreds of visiting students who gathered for the closing ceremony spend wandering the historical sites and sights of Istanbul and returning to their countries as cultural envoys with new experiences and friends.
