Western Union in Northern Cyprus: Local Fees, Branches and Receiving
Table of Contents
You can send money through Western Union agent branches in Northern Cyprus. You can also collect cash transfers there. At İktisatbank, arrange an appointment first. Then bring the correct identity document to the branch. Before you pay or collect money, do a check of the quote or cash-pickup details. A fee table helps you prepare. It does not give a live exchange rate or the exact recipient amount. Western Union’s local service page and İktisatbank’s service rules describe these local services.

Use the published-fee planner to find a USD fee band. You can also find the largest amount that fits a USD budget. If your provider has given you quote figures, enter them in the quote breakdown. Use the send or receive preparation tool before a branch visit. The tools run in this page. They do not need your name, passport number, bank details or MTCN.
Local service and quote requirements
The sources below describe services in Northern Cyprus. A mainland Turkey internet-banking tariff does not give the fee at a Northern Cyprus counter. A Cyprus country selector in a sender’s app does not confirm the cash-pickup location. If you send money from abroad, ask your provider to confirm the Northern Cyprus location before you pay. Different sending countries can use different app labels. The official sources do not give one country-selection procedure for all sending countries. This guide does not supply such a procedure.
İktisatbank offers sending in USD or GBP. Its single-transfer limit is USD 7,500 or the equivalent amount in another currency. The bank publishes a USD fee table. This guide has no verified GBP fee table. The recipient currency depends on the destination. Western Union’s local page gives a Turkish-lira cash-pickup example. That example does not confirm every branch’s cash supply or the currency for your transfer. Refer to İktisatbank’s currency and limit rules. Confirm the branch with the provider. Then confirm the recipient currency for your transfer.
Western Union’s Northern Cyprus fee page names İktisatbank and Kıbrıs Vakıflar Bankası as local agents. It lists 0(392) 444 4 444 for İktisatbank. It lists 0(392) 444 05 00 for Kıbrıs Vakıflar Bankası. The local Kıbrıs Vakıflar Bankası is separate from Turkey’s VakıfBank. Do not apply Turkey’s VakıfBank service rules to the local bank. This guide has no verified local Vakıflar fee table. The detailed appointment and ID instructions below apply to İktisatbank. Refer to Western Union’s agent listing.
Transfer fees: why the two official tables differ
İktisatbank’s Turkish page gives 20 USD bands for its named group. It gives another 20 USD bands for its other-countries category. This guide keeps all 40 bank fee bands. Western Union’s Northern Cyprus page gives a separate five-country table and a rest-of-world table. Some upper bands in its rest-of-world table differ from the bank’s table. Neither page states a tariff effective date. This guide uses the tables as planning references. The source review date is 2 October 2026. The tables do not give a current quote for your transaction.
For a USD 5,200 principal, the two other-countries references give different fees. İktisatbank’s page gives USD 180. Western Union’s Northern Cyprus page gives USD 160. Principal plus fee is USD 5,380 or USD 5,360. These totals exclude exchange costs and other quoted charges. Ask the branch to resolve this difference. The two references do not give a choice of guaranteed prices. For a USD 100 principal, the bank’s named-group table gives a USD 4 fee. Western Union’s Russia/Ukraine/CIS table gives the same fee. Principal plus fee is USD 104. The fee is 4% of the principal. The planner keeps both references. It does not select the lower fee as an offer. Western Union’s category does not exactly match the bank’s named-country list. Before you use that comparison, ask the agent to confirm the category. Bank tariff · Western Union Northern Cyprus tariff.
The bank’s named group lists Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Moldova, Russia, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Ukraine. Western Union’s suspension notice covers Russia and Belarus. Their names in an older tariff do not confirm an available transfer route. The planner excludes both countries. The other names identify the bank’s fee category. They do not confirm current service to each destination or through each delivery method. Ask the agent to confirm the route and delivery method. Refer to Western Union’s Russia and Belarus notice.
Western Union has a separate local table for the Philippines, Indonesia, Bangladesh, Pakistan and India. The planner shows this five-country table. Before you apply İktisatbank’s other-countries table to one of these destinations, ask the branch to confirm the category. For other destinations, the “other-countries” selection identifies a tariff category. It does not confirm that the transfer route is available.
Published USD fee and budget planner
Origin: Northern Cyprus. Channel: agent branch. Source review date: 2 October 2026. Select a category first. Then select an amount to send or a total USD budget. Budget mode finds the largest principal that fits a published fee band.
This page gives no live quote. Ask the branch which tariff applies.
Principal + fee is not the full transfer cost. It is also not the recipient amount. The tables do not quote exchange costs, taxes or third-party charges. They do not quote charges for each delivery method or confirm availability. GBP fees and local Vakıflar fees are unknown here. Do not use an exchange rate to turn a USD table into a GBP fee table.
Compare the figures in two provider quotes
Enter all figures from each provider’s quote. Use quotes for the same route and quote time. The input fields start empty. The bars divide your payment into principal, transfer fee and other quoted charges. The bars do not estimate an exchange rate. Teal means principal. Gold means transfer fee. Coral means other quoted charges.
The currency selections describe your quote figures only. They do not confirm supported sending or recipient currencies. This tool does not convert either quote. If the quotes use different currencies, obtain comparable figures from the providers first.
The tool has no complete quotes to compare yet. Obtain the exact recipient amount from the provider.
Prepare an İktisatbank branch visit
Select your task first. Then select your ID category. The tool gives a branch procedure for that selection. It does not arrange an appointment or send a transfer.
At İktisatbank, arrange an appointment first. Bring accepted valid ID to the branch. Confirm the quote or recipient details. Then complete the transaction with the branch.

Before you pay, obtain the complete quote
Keep three amounts separate: the principal, the total sender payment and the recipient amount. Principal means the amount you send before fees. The published-fee planner relates that principal to the transfer fee. Your provider’s quote must supply the other figures. If the currencies differ, obtain the quoted exchange rate. Obtain the exact recipient amount in a specified currency. Obtain any other charges. Then obtain the expected delivery time. Western Union earns money from currency exchange as well as transfer fees. Its conditions say that rates, taxes and fees can vary by channel and location. Refer to the local tariff’s conditions.
A provider can give a lower transfer fee and a less favourable exchange rate. The quote breakdown compares the total sender payment and recipient amount. It calculates recipient currency per unit of sender payment from your figures only. This ratio is not a market exchange rate, prediction or provider recommendation. Before you compare the ratios, make sure the currencies, destination, delivery method and quote time match. If the principals differ, the tool states this difference. It does not describe different principals as equal transfer amounts.
Budget mode shows the principal that fits inside an amount-plus-fee budget. It examines every available fee band. A fee increase at a band boundary can leave part of the budget unused. For a USD 100 named-group budget, the published fee is USD 4. The remaining principal is USD 96. A quoted tax or other charge reduces the available principal. Do not divide a transfer to avoid the branch’s requirements or transaction limit. Tell the provider the full amount that you need to send.

İktisatbank serves individual customers aged at least 18. You do not need an account with the bank. Its mobile app lists the appointment form. That feature does not confirm that you can complete a Western Union transfer inside the app. The provider supplies the MTCN for tracking and collection. Keep the receipt for later help.
İktisatbank’s sending requirements · What the bank’s mobile app lists.
For bank delivery, İktisatbank lists an IBAN or account number, bank name and sort code. Ask the provider which routing details apply to your destination. Do not assume that every country uses a sort code. For card delivery, the bank lists the card number. For a mobile wallet, it lists the wallet name and recipient mobile number. Give these details only to the provider. The article’s tools do not collect them. The public fee table has no separate bands for each delivery method. Thus, it does not confirm the same final fee or delivery time for all four methods.

A sender’s app can use different destination labels. A transfer confirmation does not necessarily mean that the branch has the cash. The branch verifies your identity before it gives you the money.
İktisatbank’s Turkish service page says that the sender pays the transfer fee. It also says that the recipient pays no receiving transaction fee. This does not make the transfer or currency exchange free. A receiving transaction fee is separate from the exchange rate that determines the recipient amount. Refer to the bank’s fee and receiving rules.
For TRNC citizens, İktisatbank accepts a valid TRNC identity card, driving licence or passport. For Turkish citizens, it accepts a valid identity card or passport. For other foreign nationals, it accepts a valid passport. If the document has expired, ask the provider to resolve the problem before you travel. If the recipient name differs from the document, ask the provider to resolve that problem before you travel. Do not put your ID or MTCN into this article or a public comment.

Branch examples in Lefkoşa, Girne, Gazimağusa and Güzelyurt
İktisatbank’s directory includes branches and ATMs. Select a branch for counter service. An ATM-only entry does not confirm Western Union cash pickup. The four branch examples below have street addresses. Their published hours are 08:15–12:00 and 13:00–16:00. The directory does not confirm the weekday, holiday schedule or current opening status for your visit. It gives the common branch phone number +90(392) 600 4000. Arrange the appointment first. Before you travel, confirm counter service with the branch. Then confirm the recipient currency. Refer to the current branch directory.

If you cannot collect a transfer, contact the provider
Contact the provider that handles your transfer. Use the receipt as your reference. Each branch quote applies to a specific transaction. This article cannot examine your MTCN or identify the cause of a collection problem. Ask the provider if the transfer is ready. Ask the provider to confirm the recipient name and cash-pickup location. Then ask which additional identity checks are necessary. Ask how the provider handles an amendment, cancellation or refund. A second transfer does not necessarily resolve the first transfer’s problem. A cancellation does not necessarily return every charge.
Western Union describes cash collection in minutes, subject to transfer conditions. The conditions include amount, destination, currency, service choice, ID requirements and partner availability. Use the expected time in your provider’s quote. If that time has passed, ask the provider for the transfer status. Do not use the fee calculator as an availability check. Refer to the local service conditions.
Follow İktisatbank’s MTCN security advice. Do not give the MTCN to people you do not know. The reference supports transfer tracking and collection. Give it only to the provider and intended recipient. Bring the documents that the provider requests. Do not disclose identity or transfer details to an unrelated calculator. Refer to the MTCN guidance.
