Lara Beach Antalya: Free Entry, Cliffside Alternatives and Where to Stay

15 min read Updated: October 2, 2026

Lara can mean a towel on a public sandy beach, a swim below Antalya’s cliffs, or a week inside a beachfront resort. Those are three very different holidays. Start with the coast you actually want, then choose your hotel and transport around it.

The public beach around Güzeloba is the practical starting point for an independent beach day. Eski Lara is the city’s cliff-lined waterfront, with bathing platforms and small coves. Farther along the coast, the Lara–Kundu resort corridor has the large hotel complexes seen in many holiday brochures. A “Lara” address alone tells you remarkably little about how you will reach the water.

Checked 2 October 2026. Operator pages describe facilities and policies, not a live guarantee that a beach is open or safe to swim today. Current equipment prices, day passes and transport fares need checking for your dates.

Where Lara Beach is, and why the address matters

Antalya’s provincial tourism directorate places Lara Beach about 12 km east of Antalya and describes its fine sand and pine-backed setting. Treat that as broad orientation rather than the distance from your own hotel: the seafront covers multiple neighbourhoods and access points. The same official guide lists Lara, Karpuzkaldıran and Kundu separately. Provincial tourism guide

  • Eski Lara and the city cliffs: the urban coast around Yeşilbahçe and Şirinyalı. Come for sea views and a city-based swim, but check how you descend to the water. A platform below a cliff is not the same experience as a walk-in sandy beach.
  • The public sandy coast: look for the particular public beach or operator you intend to visit, rather than routing to the word “Lara.” Turaş Lara Halk Plajı is one named day-use facility; it does not stand for every business along the shoreline.
  • The Lara–Kundu resort corridor: choose this when the hotel’s beach, pools and meals are the centre of your trip. Check the exact property’s boundary, beach access and guest terms. A resort beach photograph does not establish public access through that hotel.

The resort-strip view: large hotel grounds and organised beach areas dominate this earlier coastal photograph.

Lower Düden Waterfall belongs to the cliff-coast sightseeing part of a visit. Do not confuse it with Upper Düden or assume a waterfall map pin is a beach entrance. Equally, a short straight-line distance across the coast can hide a long road approach, steps or a private property between you and the sea.

Find your kind of Lara day

Use this coast sketch to compare the three settings, then choose what matters most. The order is broad west-to-east orientation, not a route or a to-scale map.

Compare all three areas. Start with the kind of shore and the access you need, then check the exact venue.

City cliffs: check the descent first

Good starting point: a sea-view city base, with a local swim as part of the day.

Shore: cliffside bathing sites and platforms. Do not assume sandy walk-in access.

Named options: Erenkuş, İnciraltı and Konserve Koyu. Current tariffs remain unverified; ask about the full route, sea entry and operating hours.

Public sand: separate entry from equipment

Good starting point: an independent beach day with your own schedule.

Shore: the sandy Lara coast; the surface near the water varies.

Named option: Turaş Lara Halk Plajı publishes free person-entry. Loungers, umbrellas and other charges are not verified. Check seasonal facilities and parking before travel.

Kundu resorts: read the beach terms

Good starting point: a holiday built around the hotel’s own beach, pools and meals.

Shore: the resort corridor, rather than one named public facility.

Before booking: check the exact hotel, room-to-beach route, equipment inclusions and seasonal opening. No general public day-pass price or right to walk through a hotel is established here.

What to expect from the public beach

For a simple day out, aim for a named section of the sandy public coast, bring what you need to sit and shade yourself, and check the posted rules before settling in. The provincial guide describes fine sand, but the original shoreline photographs also show coarser material near the water. Expect the surface and sea entry to vary along the coast rather than a uniform strip of powder-soft sand.

Turaş’s Lara Halk Plajı page explicitly states that people enter without an admission charge. It lists toilets, showers, a café/restaurant, a children’s playground, sports areas, resting areas and separate prayer rooms. This is useful evidence of the facility’s intended services; it does not establish that every service is operating on a particular October day or included free of charge.

Before travelling, ask which entrance is open, whether loungers and umbrellas are being rented, and what each charge covers. For this named facility, the published contact is +90 534 693 63 95, with [email protected] as its email. If arriving by car, confirm parking: the Lara-specific information says there is none, even though a generic parking feature appears elsewhere on the same page.

A public-beach scene from the earlier guide, showing the mix of sand and coarser material close to the water.

For families, the useful test is the actual setup on arrival: distance from shade to the water, working toilets, the swimming boundary, sea conditions and how easily you can leave when children are tired. A broad sandy beach gives room to spread out, but it does not prove shallow water throughout. Follow local flags and staff instructions, keep children close, and avoid treating a photograph of calm water as a forecast.

For a picnic, first check the facility’s rules on outside food, glass, cooking and fires. Trees behind the shore do not automatically make camping or barbecues permitted. A prepared meal, drinking water, a rubbish bag and a plan for shade are easier to manage than arriving with cooking equipment and discovering it cannot be used.

Eski Lara’s cliffside swimming alternatives

If you are staying on the urban waterfront, one of the municipal cliffside sites may make more sense than crossing to the sandy coast. Antalya municipality identifies these as falez, or cliff-coast, beaches. The current Muratpaşa beach directory lists:

  • Erenkuş Halk Plajı: Yeşilbahçe Mahallesi, Lara Caddesi No:22/1
  • İnciraltı Halk Plajı: Şirinyalı Mahallesi, Lara Caddesi No:28/3
  • Konserve Koyu Halk Plajı: Şirinyalı Mahallesi, Lara Caddesi No:82/1

The directory displays 06:30–20:00 without identifying a season. Confirm today’s opening before setting out; a displayed occupancy counter is not enough to establish that a site is operating. We have not established a current 2026 entry or equipment tariff for these three sites.

In a 4 May 2024 announcement, the municipality described free entry and a paid lounger/umbrella arrangement, and called İnciraltı its lift-served beach. That is historical context, not a current price or an accessibility guarantee. Ask whether the lift is working, whether the whole route from the street to the platform is step-free, and how sea entry works. A lift to a platform does not necessarily provide independent wheelchair access into the sea.

What does a day at Lara Beach cost?

The verified free item is person-entry at Turaş Lara Halk Plajı. There is no single verified price for “Lara Beach” that covers every public section, club, resort and bathing platform. Avoid budgeting from an old social post or a price that does not identify the operator and what is included.

Admission

Turaş publishes free person-entry. Private facilities and resort day-use access require their own terms and a current quote.

Beach equipment

Ask whether the price is per lounger, per umbrella, per person or for a set, and whether towels or a deposit are extra.

Food and transport

Allow for meals, drinking water, the journey home and any parking charge. A beach-entry policy says nothing about these costs.

A useful question at the entrance is: “What will two adults pay today for entry, two loungers and one umbrella, and are showers included?” Add children, parking or a minimum food spend if relevant. Keep the answer in Turkish lira so you can compare like with like. Once you have a real quote, use Turkpidya’s currency converter to translate it into your home currency; its reference rate is not a promise of the rate your bank or cash exchange will give you.

Getting to Lara from Antalya and the airport

From the city

Use Antalyakart’s official journey tools with your actual starting point and the beach or hotel address. Its site links to “Hatlar ve Duraklar” for lines and stops and “Nasıl Giderim” for route planning. Check both directions, the last useful return service and the walk from the final stop to the entrance. The official how-to guide explains the planner.

Older guides name KL07, KL08 or KL09 as if all three deliver you to the same beach. Do not use that as a substitute for a current stop-by-stop route. A service labelled Lara or Güzeloba may end away from your chosen entrance, and a route serving the public coast may not suit a Kundu resort. Allow extra time if the last section involves carrying bags in the sun.

From Antalya Airport

The airport’s current public-transport page directs travellers to Antalyakart or the transport information line, +90 242 606 07 07, for bus departures. It describes AntRay as a connection toward the city and bus station, not a direct beach service. Check the terminal you land at and whether your proposed route needs a transfer.

For a taxi or pre-arranged transfer, send the exact hotel or facility name and street address. “Lara Beach” is too vague for a firm quote. Ask for the total in TRY, whether the quote is for the whole vehicle, and whether luggage, waiting or late arrival costs extra. We have not verified a current fare or a universal airport-to-Lara journey time.

With a car or limited mobility

Find the entrance and parking arrangement before following a coastal map pin. For a step-free visit, get confirmation of the full route: drop-off, pavement, entrance, toilet, sand or platform, and sea access. Ask about gradients and assistance as well as steps. None of the broad zone descriptions in this guide is an accessibility certification.

When to visit

For a beach-led holiday, summer gives the strongest prospect of warm weather, but July and August require a deliberate shade-and-rest plan. The Turkish State Meteorological Service’s Antalya statistics, covering 1930–2025, show average daily maximum temperatures of 34.2°C in July and 34.1°C in August. These are long-term averages, not the maximum temperatures you might encounter. Official Antalya climate statistics

May and October can work well if your priority is combining the coast with walks and sightseeing: the same series gives average daily highs of 25.7°C and 26.6°C respectively. That does not guarantee swimming conditions, warm sea water, open beach concessions or a heated hotel pool. Check your hotel’s seasonal programme and the forecast close to departure. In winter, plan a coastal visit around walking and views unless current conditions and operating facilities support more.

Things to do beyond swimming

Sandland

The open-air sand-sculpture exhibition is a natural companion to a public-beach day. Its published address is Güzeloba Mahallesi, Lara Caddesi, Lara Birlik Halk Plajı No:208/1. The operator’s dedicated visiting-hours page lists 09:00–22:00 from 1 June to 31 October and 09:00–19:00 from 1 November to 31 May. The page does not specify a year, and another general-information page uses different seasonal boundaries, so confirm borderline dates directly.

The operator says individual visitors need not book ahead and describes a second visit on the same day with one ticket under its ID conditions. That can suit a daytime look followed by the illuminated sculptures after dark. Check the current ticket price, last admission and return conditions before relying on it. Severe rain or storms can affect this outdoor visit. Sandland address and contact details

A manageable day plan

For a first independent visit, keep the plan simple: reach your chosen public facility in the morning, check charges before hiring equipment, take a proper break from the heat, and leave time for Sandland or an unhurried meal. Check the return journey before adding a late evening visit. If you are staying on the cliff coast, pair a local swim with the waterfront instead of trying to walk the entire coastline.

Water-sports offers depend on the specific operator, season and conditions. Before paying, ask about supervision, equipment, age restrictions, insurance and weather cancellation terms. Do not assume every beach provides parasailing, jet skis or the same activity package. Likewise, shopping and a city excursion are separate journeys; a beach holiday becomes less relaxing if every day is planned around several transfers.

Where to stay: check the route to the sea

Choose accommodation by how you intend to spend the day. For frequent city meals and outings, compare the urban locations and their actual beach routes. For an all-in-one resort stay, inspect the hotel’s beach and pool terms as closely as the room. “Sea view,” “near the beach,” “private beach” and “beachfront” describe different arrangements.

Holiday Inn Antalya–Lara

IHG’s official page lists the address as Güzeloba Mahallesi, 2290 Sokak No:5. It describes an outdoor pool, spa and sea-view terrace. The important beach detail is a distinction on the page itself: it says sandy Lara Beach is a 15-minute walk away, while a separately named “Beach Area” is a 15-minute drive away.

Do not turn those two statements into a promise of a free shuttle or included beach-club access. Ask which beach the hotel currently uses, how guests get there, whether transport and equipment are included in your rate, and on which dates the service operates. Treat the published travel times as the hotel’s estimates, not guarantees.

Lara Otel

The official Lara Otel website gives Güzeloba Mahallesi, Lara Caddesi No:142, Muratpaşa/Antalya. Its cliffside setting is a different proposition from a resort built directly behind an uninterrupted sandy beach. The hotel advertises sea-view accommodation, air conditioning and balconies; use the current room and rate details when booking.

If swimming is the reason you are choosing it, ask about the present sea-access route, steps, seasonal opening and any separate charge. If you need a sandy beach, ask for the named beach and transport arrangement rather than accepting “near the sea” as the answer. The published telephone is +90 242 349 29 30.

The Kundu resort option

Large resort complexes suit a stay in which the hotel does most of the organising. The trade-off is that visiting city sights, independent restaurants or the public Lara facilities can become a separate outing. Compare the exact beach entrance, room-to-beach walk, pool heating dates, children’s facilities and evening programme. Ask whether any premium seating, cabanas, watersports or à la carte dining cost extra.

For context, Lara Barut Collection’s official site presents pools, beach and a substantial on-site activity programme. That illustrates the resort model; it is not a ranking or a claim that another Lara-labelled hotel has the same facilities. Obtain a date-specific rate and cancellation terms from the particular hotel you choose.

Before you leave for the beach

  • Save the exact facility name and entrance or street address, plus a return route
  • Check current opening, local flags and the weather; pack shade, water, sun protection and footwear suitable for the shore
  • Confirm entry, equipment and parking charges separately, in TRY
  • Ask about the complete access route if steps, sand or ladders would be a problem
  • Take a towel, swimwear and a dry layer; do not assume a public facility supplies towels
  • Leave enough time to return comfortably before your flight or last useful bus

The photographs are retained from Turkpidya’s earlier Lara guide. They show the coast and the two named hotels, but are not a live record of current facilities. The illustrated cover and coast comparison are planning illustrations by Turkpidya.
