Bottled Water in Turkey: Brands, Labels and Damacana Delivery
Which water to buy, what the label says and how a damacana order works. Work out how long a container lasts at your home.
Table of Contents

Turkish bottled water is sold as spring water (doğal kaynak suyu), natural mineral water (doğal mineralli su) or maden suyu, a mineral water whose carbonation can differ. For a home, most people order a 19-litre damacana from a local dealer; for a trip, a pack of small bottles is easier. Check the water type and the source on the label.
Water at home
Pick the container for your use.
- At home: a damacana on a pump or a cooler. The dealer swaps the empty bottle for a full one.
- On the road: a pack of small bottles.
- On the label: doğal kaynak suyu is spring water, doğal mineralli su is natural mineral water.
- First order: ask for the bottle deposit and the pump separately from the water.
How long does the water last?
Choose how many people live in the home and what the water is for. The tool shows litres a day, how many days one container lasts and how often to order. Then type your own price per container, delivery included, to compare a damacana, a 5-litre bottle and a pack of six small bottles.
Your home stock
How much water do you use?
First order: bottle deposit and pump
| Container | Purchases in 30 days |
|---|---|
| 19 L damacana | 7 |
| 5 L bottle | 24 |
| 6 × 1.5 L pack | 14 |
The tool starts from household guesses: 1.5 L per person for drinking, 2 L with tea and coffee, 3 L with cooking. Change the figure to fit your kitchen. Purchases for 30 days are counted from an empty stock and rounded up to whole containers. The prices are yours: use the price on your receipt or the dealer’s quote, with delivery.
Spring, mineral or maden suyu?
Start with still water and delivery to your address. On the shelf, pick a group, then tap a bottle. For spring water look for Doğal kaynak suyu, for mineral water Doğal mineralli su. For maden suyu, read the label: its carbonation and minerals can differ from one product to the next, and gazlı means sparkling, gazsız still. If you are new here, buy one small bottle first to choose a taste before you order a big container for the home.

What is on the label
Read the water type, the source name and the analysis on your own bottle. The Istanbul Provincial Health Directorate names three kinds of packaged water: natural spring water, natural mineral water and drinking water. Its page says that spring water takes no disinfection or similar process apart from ozonation, mineral water the same plus activated alumina to remove fluoride, and drinking water any process, disinfection included. Below is a sample label to help you find the lines. The directorate lists what a label must carry: the brand, the type, the factory address, the permit date and number, the analysis values, the production and expiry dates, and the batch or serial number.
Su
1Doğal kaynak suyu / Doğal mineralli su
2Kaynak adı ve yeri
3pH · mg/l

- 3Acidity and minerals. pH · mg/l
- 4Bottling and expiry dates. Üretim tarihi · Son tüketim tarihi
- 5Permit date and number. İzin tarihi ve sayısı
Minerals are given per litre; pH tells you how acidic or alkaline the water is. For infant feeding or a low-salt diet, find the Sodyum (sodium) line and show the label to a paediatrician or your doctor. Two Kızılay waters show how far sources can differ: Erzincan has more magnesium, Afyon has more sodium. In the shop, find the source name on the bottle and choose the product you mean.

The sucu brings the bottle
Order from a dealer, the bayi, or in the brand’s app. The dealer delivers to your door. On a first order without an empty bottle, ask what the bottle costs. On the next order, hand over the empty and get a full one.
You hand over the empty.
You get the full one.
Before the first order, ask for two sums: what you pay today and what the next swap costs. Note the water, the delivery, the bottle deposit and the pump separately. That makes the first big payment clear, and next time you can compare the cost of the water itself. If you move out, ask the dealer where to return the container and what you need to get the deposit back.
One bottle goes back into circulation, and the next one arrives.
Ordering a damacana
Start with your full address and a question about the empty bottle. Give the city, district, street, building, flat and a time that suits you; add a landmark if the entrance is hard to find. Ask for the total sum at once, so that on delivery you only have to accept the bottle and check it.
- Find your bayi.Enter your address in the brand’s app or site, or look for the dealer by province and district.
- Tell them about the empty bottle.Name the brand and the size, and ask how the swap works.
- Ask for the first payment.Ask for the water, the delivery, the deposit and the pump as separate sums.
- Keep the receipt.Agree beforehand how the empty container and the deposit are returned.

| Brand | How the brand takes orders |
|---|---|
| Hayat | Sign up with a phone number and an address; the order goes to the dealer matched to that address. |
| Saka | Online cart; the site also names a phone line and WhatsApp as order channels. |
| Fuska | App or online shop; a dealer finder by province and district, and a phone line. |
| Buzdağı | An order button on each product; a dealer finder by province and district. |
Can you drink from the tap?
Each water utility publishes its own results, so read the ones for your address. İSKİ has a water-quality reports page for Istanbul. In Antalya, ASAT lists a water-quality control laboratory and an “Alo 185” contact line on its site. Ask the building manager about the pipes and the tank in your building.
Receive the water and set it up at home
All set. You can pour.

The Istanbul Provincial Health Directorate advises using an opened damacana within one week. If a big bottle stands longer, buy a smaller one next time. Keep the water closed and the pump clean, and put nothing else into a returnable damacana: no ayran, juice or tap water. Before a holiday, work out the stock you need until you leave: small bottles are easier to take along or to finish in time. When you come back, check the seal and the expiry date before the water goes on the table.
