Marmaris Beaches: Which Bay, How to Get There and What Is Free
Pick a Marmaris bay by water class, bus or boat and what is free, using the Health Ministry’s results for 43 tested areas.

Marmaris has 43 swimming areas on the Health Ministry’s portal, and 42 of them are classed Excellent. That does not tell you which bay to pick. What changes the day is how you get there, how you get back and who runs the beach. Pick a stop below, then read its card.

Pick the bay by how you get back, then check its water.
- Water – 42 of 43 areas are classed Excellent for the 2025 season, and 40 had a Good newest sample. One area has no class.
- Blue Flag – 21 areas fly one on the portal, 17 of them hotel beaches. The public ones are the town’s Halk Plajı, the Macera Park beach, İçmeler’s Ministry beach and Turunç.
- Poor newest samples – 2: the town’s Halk Plajı on 14 October (after the season) and one hotel beach in town on 29 September. Read an area’s sample before you go.
- Not on the portal – Sedir Island and İncekum. Sedir is a boat day, and İncekum’s operator gives no road description: ask first.

- In town. The minibus lines to İçmeler, Turunç, Hisarönü, Orhaniye, Selimiye and Bozburun start at the Marmaris terminal (MUTTAŞ bus lines).

Uzunyalı
Not a portal areaRun by the municipality- Water
- The portal names no area “Uzunyalı”. Read the town and İçmeler areas on either side of it.
- Beach
- The strip starts right after the town’s public beach and runs towards İçmeler, with restaurants and cafés along it (Muğla tourism guide). In June 2026 the municipality opened its Halk Plaj Kafe on it.
- Free
- Marmaris municipality, 8 June 2026: loungers and umbrellas are free for those who want them, and no food or drink is required. That is one café beach and one season; ask elsewhere on the strip. Municipality news item
- Getting there
- It starts at the town beach, so no bus is needed from the harbour.

İçmeler

- The Culture and Tourism Ministry’s day-use beaches: Halk Plajı 1 (sand, 50 m long on the portal, with a Blue Flag on the portal and in TÜRÇEV’s own record) and Halk Plajı 2 (pebble, 200 m long on the portal).
- Getting there
- Eight kilometres from Marmaris, with minibuses day and night (Muğla tourism guide). MUTTAŞ lists line 10-1A, 13 km long, from the Marmaris terminal.

Turunç

- Beach
- Turunç Halk Plajı, run by the Turunç municipality on the portal (sand, 500 m long on the portal). The area’s name is shared with a hotel beach, and the portal shows its Blue Flag badge on this area. TÜRÇEV’s own page for Turunç names a hotel beach, so ask which shore the flag flies at.
- Getting there
- An old fishing village on the Bozburun peninsula, 20 km from Marmaris according to the guide. The directorate’s other page says a climb starts after İçmeler, then a very winding forest road of about 20 km, and that by sea it is about 15 nautical miles from Marmaris. MUTTAŞ lists line 10-15, 22 km long.

Kumlubük

- Beach
- Kumlubük 2 is run by the Marmaris municipality on the portal (pebble, 500 m long on the portal). The village is known for its fishermen’s restaurants and fresh sea food (Kültür Portalı).
- Getting there
- You reach it from Turunç by road (Kültür Portalı). No MUTTAŞ line is named Kumlubük, and no source gives its distance from Marmaris.

Hisarönü

Kızkumu, Orhaniye

- Kızkumu Plajı, run by Orhaniye’s headman’s office on the portal (pebble, 1,500 m long on the portal). The tourism directorate describes a 600 m tongue of sand, ringed by pine forest, that appears and disappears with the tide, and that people walk out along to the far shore.
- Getting there
- Orhaniye and Kızkumu lie on Hisarönü Bay. MUTTAŞ lists line 10-9 to Orhaniye, 40 km long.

Selimiye

- Selimiye Halk Plajı, run by the village headman’s office on the portal (pebble, 1,500 m long on the portal). The tourism directorate calls Selimiye a calm village with waterfront restaurants and boutique hotels, a regular stop for blue-cruise boats and private yachts.

- 43 km from Marmaris (Muğla tourism). MUTTAŞ lists line 10-11 to Selimiye, 50 km long, from the Marmaris terminal.

Bozburun

- Bozburun Plajı, run by the Bozburun municipality on the portal (concrete platform, 1,500 m long on the portal). The town lives on yachting, tourism and some fishing, and is known for gulet building (Muğla tourism guide).
- Getting there
- MUTTAŞ lists line 10-11 to Bozburun, 60 km long, from the Marmaris terminal.

Burunucu, Macera Park

Aktaş, Adaköy

- Class Excellent in 2025 (no earlier years are listed; the area was created in 2023). Newest sample, 29 September 2026: Good.
- Beach
- Adaköy Aktaş Plajı, run by the provincial Environment and Forestry directorate on the portal (pebble, 300 m long on the portal). The portal’s address is the Yalancıboğaz road.
- Getting there
- MUTTAŞ’s line 10-17 runs to Yalancıboğaz, but its stop list names no Aktaş stop. Ask the driver where to get off.

İncekum

- The portal lists no swimming area at İncekum, so there is no class or sample to read.
- Beach
- The operator’s own page gives an address at Taşbükü Mevkii and opening hours, and no road description, no entrance price and no season. Operator’s page
- Getting there
- A stop named Taşbükü Mevki is on MUTTAŞ’s line 10-18 (Çamlı to Marmaris, 20 km). No source says how far the stop is from the beach. Ask the operator before you go.

Çamlı
Not a beach- What it is
- The end of MUTTAŞ’s Çamlı to Marmaris line, with a stop named Sedir Adası Kleopetra. The Culture Ministry says day-trip boats to Sedir leave from Çamlı village and from the Akyaka neighbourhood.
- Getting there
- MUTTAŞ lists line 10-18, 20 km long. Ask the boat operators whether they meet the bus.

Sedir Island
Not a portal areaTicket: see the Ministry page- Water
- The portal lists no swimming area at Sedir, so there is no class or sample to read.
- The island
- The tourism directorate puts Sedir Island (Kedreai) 18 km from Marmaris in the Gulf of Gökova, with Hellenistic and Roman ruins, an ancient theatre and the Cleopatra Beach, known for its golden sand.
- Getting there
- By day-trip boat from Çamlı or Akyaka, and the boat is a separate purchase. The Culture Ministry’s museum page gives the opening hours and offers Turkish citizens a MüzeKart discount on the ticket; it prints no price. Follow the signs and the staff on the island.

“Run by a public body”: the portal lists a municipality, headman’s office, ministry or forestry directorate as operator, or the municipality names the beach itself. “Blue Flag”: the portal’s badge on a public beach; 17 of the 21 flags on the portal belong to hotel beaches and are left out. “No car needed”: a MUTTAŞ line serves the stop, or the beach starts at the town beach; Sedir also needs a boat. Read the water first two labels, not one
Each area carries two labels. The class is the Ministry’s rating at the end of a season; the portal still shows the 2025 one. The last sample is the newest lab result, per 100 ml of coastal water. Read both before you pack.

Every area has 12 results from 27 April 2026. The newest is dated 29 September for 42 areas.
21 areas
17 are hotel or resort beaches and 4 are public ones. A hotel’s flag is not a flag for the bay.
The newest sample, per 100 ml of coastal water
Good: E. coli 100 or fewer and enterococci 100 or fewer. Fair: more than that, but E. coli under 1,000 and enterococci under 370. Poor: E. coli 1,000 or more, or enterococci 370 or more. The portal’s swimming season for every Marmaris area is 1 June to 30 September.
Why both labels
A top class can still have a bad day
The town’s Halk Plajı is classed Excellent. Its newest sample, on 14 October, two weeks after the season’s end, was Poor: E. coli 1,880, enterococci 2,600. The sample before it, on 14 September, was Good, with no bacteria counted. One hotel beach in town was Poor on 29 September. Only two of the 43 areas had a Poor newest sample; one more was Fair.

Both are true: the class is last season’s rating, the sample is one day’s result. If the newest sample is Poor, choose another bay that day.
Are the 2026 classes out?
Not yet on 17 October 2026. The portal still shows the class from the 2025 season, and the 2022 to 2024 classes beside it.
Is Sedir Island tested?
The portal lists no swimming area at Sedir or at İncekum, so there is no class or sample to read there.
A day at each bay what it is like
The cards above give the water and the access. This is what the sources say a day at each place is like.
The promenade day
A long pedestrian path runs beside the beach, with hotels and cafés along it, and the tourism directorate calls it a walk for day or night. It is a quieter stay than central Marmaris, with a landscaped beach.
The town-beach day
The beach starts right after the town beach and runs on towards İçmeler, with restaurants and cafés along it. In June 2026 the municipality opened a café beach here with free loungers and umbrellas.
The village-bay day
An old fishing village in a bay of the Bozburun peninsula, ringed by pine forest. The road from İçmeler winds through the forest, so leave time for it.
The fish-lunch day
Known for its fishermen’s restaurants and fresh sea food, and reached from Turunç by road. The public beach is pebble.
The quiet day
A calm village with waterfront restaurants and boutique hotels, where blue-cruise boats and private yachts call. The public beach is pebble.
The island day
Boat first, then ruins: Hellenistic and Roman remains, an ancient theatre and the Cleopatra Beach with its golden sand. Follow the signs and the staff on the island.
The ask-first day
The operator’s page gives an address at Taşbükü and opening hours, and no road description or season. Message the operator before you go.
Who pays for what free, separate or ask first
“Is it free?” is the question behind a search for a public beach. A beach can be free to enter while the loungers, the boat to reach it or a site ticket are not. The ledger keeps those apart and names the source and the season for each “free”.

A Sedir day by boat from Çamlı or Akyaka

Four steps for the island day
- Check it is open. The Culture Ministry’s museum page gives opening hours and says the site is open every day; read them for your date.
- Get to the boat. Day-trip boats leave from Çamlı village and from Akyaka. MUTTAŞ’s Çamlı line has a stop named Sedir Adası Kleopetra.
- Pay for two things. The boat and the site ticket are separate. The Ministry offers Turkish citizens a MüzeKart discount and prints no price, and so does this guide.
- Follow the signs. On the island, follow the signs and the staff, and ask the crew when the last boat leaves.

Which bays can I reach without a car?
Those with a MUTTAŞ line on the coast line: İçmeler (10-1A), Turunç (10-15), Hisarönü (10-8), Orhaniye and Kızkumu (10-9), Selimiye and Bozburun (10-11), Burunucu (10-17) and Çamlı for Sedir (10-18). Kumlubük and İncekum have no line named for them, and the town and Uzunyalı beaches are on foot from the harbour.
How do I reach the remote beaches?
Sedir Island is by day-trip boat from Çamlı or Akyaka. Kumlubük is by road from Turunç. İncekum’s operator gives an address and no road description: ask first.
When is the best time to swim?
The portal’s swimming season for every Marmaris area is 1 June to 30 September, and the areas were sampled about every two weeks from 27 April. For the sea temperature use MGM’s live page; this guide prints no number because it changes daily.
