Every nationality the Ministry names has its own row. The Ministry groups its smaller countries under “other countries” of a region and counts stateless persons separately; they are inside the total but have no row, so the rows add up to less than all foreign visitors. The “Others” row is that difference, worked out here.
Tourism revenue, quarter by quarter
Türkiye’s tourism revenue in US dollars. The data platform holds each quarter as an average per month; the totals here are that average times three. A newer quarter that the central bank’s data system does not carry yet is filled in from the Ministry’s monthly receipts and marked.

This quarter is filled in from the monthly receipts of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism (KTB data): its three months added up. TÜİK’s own figure for it has not reached the central bank’s EVDS yet and replaces this one when it does.
The newest quarter in the data is April–June 2026, filled in from the Ministry’s monthly receipts. Revenue is not divided by the visitor numbers: the two series do not cover the same people, so a figure per visitor would be misleading.
What the figures are, and what they are not
What is counted, what is compared with what, and where the data stops.
What is counted
Foreign visitors who entered Türkiye, by month and nationality, in persons. The Ministry of Culture and Tourism (Kültür ve Turizm Bakanlığı) counts them at the border and publishes them in its monthly bulletins; this page reads them through the Turkpidya data platform (KTB data).
Entries at the border
The figures count entries at the border, not departures and not nights spent. A person who enters twice in a month is counted twice. The Ministry marks its figures as provisional.
Same months, same length
This year is compared with last year over the same months only: January–August 2026 against January–August 2025. A part of a year is never set against a whole year.
Single months
Each month is the figure in the Ministry’s bulletin for that month. It was compared with the Ministry’s tables on 1 October 2026; the tables are linked under Sources. Later bulletins may revise a month, and then the newer figure is shown.
Which nationalities
Every nationality the Ministry names has its own row and can be picked. The Ministry groups its smaller countries under “other countries” of a region and counts stateless persons separately, so those have no row of their own. The named nationalities together were 98% of all foreign visitors in January–August 2026.
A typical year
The busiest and quietest months, and each month’s share, are averages of the complete years 2023–2025 in the data. They describe the past and are not a forecast.
Revenue
Revenue is TÜİK’s quarterly tourism receipts as the central bank’s EVDS carries them (TCMB data). EVDS holds each quarter as the average per month; the quarter totals here are that average times three, calculated here, in US dollars. When checked on 1 October 2026 they matched the totals TÜİK publishes. A newer quarter that EVDS does not carry yet is filled in from the Ministry’s monthly receipts (KTB data) and marked with an asterisk.
Questions about tourism in Türkiye
How many tourists visit Turkey?
January–August 2026: 34.8 million foreign visitors entered Türkiye, −1.8% against January–August 2025. The whole of 2025: 52.8 million.
Which countries do most visitors to Turkey come from?
Ranked by entries in January–August 2026, the nationalities with the most visitors are: Russia: 4,717,814; Germany: 4,391,616; United Kingdom: 2,714,652; Iran: 1,911,827; Bulgaria: 1,738,991; Poland: 1,305,414; United States: 959,130; Netherlands: 932,119; Georgia: 896,574; Romania: 782,714. The Ministry counts them at the border, so a person who enters twice is counted twice.
When is the busiest time for tourism in Turkey?
Over the complete years 2023–2025 the busiest months were July, August, September, together 39% of a year’s visitors. The quietest were January, February, March, together 13%.
When do visitors from the United Kingdom come to Turkey?
United Kingdom: most visitors come in July, August, September; the fewest in January, February, December. January–August 2026: 2,714,652 visitors, −9.6% against the same months of 2025.
Are there more or fewer tourists than last year?
January–August 2026: 34,826,677 foreign visitors against 35,481,223 in January–August 2025, a change of −1.8%. Among the larger nationalities, the largest rise is Uzbekistan (+11.7%). The largest fall among them: Saudi Arabia (−11.0%).
How much does Turkey earn from tourism?
April–June 2026: US$15.9 billion (calculated: the platform’s average per month times three). This quarter is filled in from the Ministry’s monthly receipts (KTB data), because TÜİK’s figure has not reached the central bank’s EVDS yet. That is −2.6% against the same quarter of 2025. The whole of 2025: US$65.2 billion.
How much does a tourist spend in Turkey?
This page shows no spend per visitor. Revenue and the visitor counts do not cover exactly the same people, so dividing one by the other would give a misleading figure. Revenue is shown in total, by quarter.
Where do these figures come from, and how up to date are they?
The Ministry of Culture and Tourism (Kültür ve Turizm Bakanlığı) counts foreign visitors at the border and publishes the entries by nationality in its monthly bulletins (KTB data); the data platform reads them from there. Revenue is TÜİK’s quarterly figure as the central bank’s EVDS carries it (TCMB data), with the newest quarter filled in from the Ministry’s monthly receipts until EVDS has it. The newest visitor month is August 2026; the data was checked on 1 October 2026.
