Altas Ambarli
Ambarli Port serves the larger Istanbul area and is situated in the Beylikdüzü district of Turkey’s European portion, on the northern coasts of the Sea of Marmara off the Aegean Sea, some 26 kilometers southwest of Istanbul’s port. The port was built in 1989, and it was enlarged and improved towards the beginning of this century as the amount of commerce and cargo increased.
There are two sections of Altas Ambarli port in Turkey:
- The first section is the new Ambarley Port, located west of the oil terminals , and consisting of general cargo terminals and a container terminal.
- The second section consists of oil platforms , docks, and mooring buoys.
Ambarley Port handles roughly 2.7 million containers and 223 thousand cars every year, as well as more than 2.7 million tons of general cargo and 259 thousand tons of liquid bulk cargo.
Mersin port
It is one of the most important ports in Turkey, located on the northeastern coast of the Mediterranean in the city of Mersin, southern Turkey. The second port in the country after Ambarli, it is Turkey’s main gateway to the Mediterranean. It was built in 1950 as a major government project.
5 berths from the port are linked to the railroads, where freight trains come from Adana and are loaded and unloaded straight onto the ships.
The port contains cargo terminals, containers , RORO terminals, and oil terminals. It also contains a grain berth with silos with a capacity of 100,000 tons, a berth for livestock and timber , a berth for fishing , in addition to a small marina for boats.
Port of Istanbul (Istanbul)
An prominent commercial and tourist port in Istanbul’s European part, on the western bank of the Bosphorus Strait, officially associated with Turkish shipping lines. Its construction started in 1892, and its growth and extension proceeded over time to accommodate the inflation of commodities volume and the large rise in the number of passengers and tourists.
It has two terminals, one for freight and one for passengers, with a total space of 8,800 square meters and the capacity to handle 10,000 visitors per hour.
The port also features a 5,000-square-meter bus station that can handle 200 excursion buses.
All port facilities are monitored by 78 TV cameras 24/7 for security purposes.
Izmir Port
It is situated on the Izmir Gulf. It was constructed in the 1950s and covers an area of 900,000 square meters.
It has a berth with a length of almost 3,000 meters that can handle 18 ships. Every year, more than 2,000 ships visit the port, and 9 million tons of products are traded there.
Haydarpasa Port
It is a container terminal and general cargo port in Istanbul, Turkey, near the southern entry to the Bosphorus Strait.
It serves the hinterland that includes the most industrialized areas in the country.
Haydarpasa Port is the second largest port in the Marmara region, with an annual tonnage of six million tons. It’s the fourth year as well.
The largest port in Turkey after Mersin, Ambarli and Izmir, contains 21 berths and many dedicated berths.
Iskenderun port
It is located in the Iskenderun district, in the northeastern Mediterranean. It extends over an area of 1 million square meters and operates with a capacity, It reaches 8.7 million tons annually.
Iskenderun’s port is distinguished by its closeness to textile and garment companies, and it has eight sea docks for cargo and commodities. It is linked to a railway network that connects all of its platforms and has an annual turnover of about 600,000 tons of general cargo and 2.5 million tons of solid bulk cargo.
Trabzon port
It is located in the city of Trabzon , which is the most important Turkish port on the Black Sea.
It was founded in 1946. Docks and warehouses with a capacity of 10 million tons are located on an area of 550 square meters.
