Antalya’s shopping sits in four places: the stone lanes and old inns of Kaleiçi, the malls (TerraCity, MarkAntalya and Mall of Antalya with its outlet), the Land of Legends avenue out in Belek, and the weekly neighbourhood markets. Kaleiçi hans, gate and harbour
Kaleiçi is Antalya’s old walled port town on the bluff above the harbour. The municipality’s page calls Hadrian’s Gate one of the city’s symbols, and the lanes behind it hold the old hans: the upper floor of the İki Kapılı Han is a bazaar today.
Four stops in the old town
The three-arched gate that gives Üç Kapılar (“Three Gates”) its name was built in honour of the Emperor Hadrian’s visit to Attaleia, as Antalya was then called, in AD 130.
It stood on the way out toward Perge, Aspendos and Side and was made to be seen, not to defend.
A caravanserai (han) of the late 18th or early 19th century. Its west block is one rectangle of eleven spaces; the east block is a single storey with twelve shops.
The courtyard has a well and a fountain, and the upper-floor rooms are a bazaar today.
Built in the same decades, it adjoins the İki Kapılı Han on the east. Round shops circle its courtyard and wooden rooms line the second floor.
A 1935 deed describes it as an inn with thirty rooms, three stalls, twenty-four shops and a room and stable.
The Yat Limanı is a natural half-circle harbour from the Hellenistic period; its entrance is 110 metres wide.

Old things stay
Law 2863 (the cultural property protection law) says in article 32 that protected movable cultural and natural property cannot be taken out of Türkiye. Article 68 sets five to twelve years in prison and a judicial fine for taking it out against the law. Article 23 lists what counts as protected movable property: ceramics, icons, rings and other ornaments, coins, written and illustrated documents, manuscripts and ethnographic items of everyday life, among others.
Malls and outlets who lists your brand

- MarkAntalya – Opened in 2013 on Kazım Özalp Caddesi (Şarampol); its directory is the brands page.
- Mall of Antalya and Deepo Outlet – Mall of Antalya opened on 28 April 2017 and is joined to Deepo Outlet Center by five corridors; together they list more than 200 stores, says the mall’s own page.
- The Land of Legends Shopping Avenue – In Belek, with more than 150 stores according to its own page, which names Lacoste, Gant and Tommy Hilfiger among them. Its full store list is on its own site.

Tax free the VAT refund, step by step
Buyers who do not live in Türkiye can reclaim the VAT on goods bought at authorised shops when they leave: foreign nationals, and Turkish citizens who live abroad and hold a residence permit or a similar document from that country (section II/A-5.1 of the VAT General Implementation Communiqué). Goods worth more than 1,000 TL, excluding VAT
₺Consolidated text · checked 19.10.2026Series No. 49 raised the minimum in section II/A-5.3 from 100 TL to 1,000 TL, in force since 1 February 2024. Different goods on the same invoice are added up.
- ShopBuy at a shop authorised for tax free. It hands you the printout of the e-invoice.
- Leave in timeThe goods must leave Türkiye within 3 months of the purchase.
- DeskWhen you leave, take the printout and the goods to the tax-free desk of customs.
- RefundCustoms checks the goods and the invoice and, if all is in order, approves it; the invoice goes to the intermediary company, which pays you the VAT refund. Its commission is the difference between the VAT and what you are paid, and the form shows it or lets you work it out.

Before you fly what the rules say
Three rules decide what you can carry out of the country, from the Ministry of Trade’s customs FAQ and Law 2863, checked 19.10.2026.
- Cash – Foreign cash worth more than 10,000 EUR, or more than 25,000 TL in Turkish lira, must be declared to a customs officer when you leave; below those amounts no declaration is needed. The two are counted together.
- Jewellery – Your own, non-commercial jewellery of precious metal and stones worth up to USD 15,000 can go out with you. Above that, it must have been declared when you came in or shown to have been bought in Türkiye.
- Protected cultural property – Cannot leave Türkiye at all (Law 2863, article 32); article 68 sets five to twelve years in prison and a judicial fine for taking it out against the law.

How much VAT do I get back?
The refund is the VAT shown on your invoice, paid by the intermediary company, which keeps a commission: the difference between the VAT and what you are paid, shown on the form or easy to work out from it. The goods must be worth more than 1,000 TL excluding VAT and leave Türkiye within 3 months, and customs must approve the invoice at its tax-free desk.
Can I take an old kilim or a coin home?
Law 2863 bars taking protected movable cultural property out of Türkiye and sets five to twelve years in prison for doing it against the law. Article 23 lists what counts, including coins, ceramics, icons and ethnographic items.
Will the brand board stay right?
