Used Cars in Turkey: Notary, Fees and MA Plates (2026)

Foreigners can buy a used car in Turkey and register it in their own name, with MA–MZ plates. Every sale goes through a notary, cash and bank transfers go through Güvenli Ödeme, and the fee is 2‰ of the price or the kasko list value, whichever is higher (at least 1,000 TL), plus a fixed notary fee; dealers owe an inspection report and a 3-month or 5,000 km warranty on cars up to 8 years old and 160,000 km (rules checked 15 and 16 October 2026).
